As part of the implementation of the Head of State’s поручения, JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy has initiated the development of its own maritime fleet to further strengthen the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (Middle Corridor).

KTZ Express subsidiary, KTZ Express Shipping LLP, has signed contracts for the construction of six multipurpose dry cargo/container vessels. Agreements were concluded with Jiangsu Haizhongzhou Shipping Industry Co., Ltd. for the construction of four vessels, and with the Baku Shipyard for an additional two.

The project is aimed at reinforcing Kazakhstan’s position along the Middle Corridor and establishing a sustainable maritime component within the corridor.

The vessels will be built to the “river-sea” class, with a deadweight of up to 9,900 tons and a capacity of up to 537 TEU, optimized for operations across the Caspian and Black Sea routes. This will ensure efficient integration of the maritime segment into the unified Middle Corridor logistics chain.

The vessels will be equipped with advanced navigation and control systems in compliance with international standards and environmental regulations, including IMO and MARPOL requirements. Classification services will be provided by Bureau Veritas, ensuring high standards of safety, reliability, and environmental performance. This will also enhance operational flexibility across international routes and strengthen confidence among global shippers.

A meeting was held at the head office of JSC KTZ Express with a delegation from the international company AECOM.

During the переговоры, the parties discussed key areas for the development of Kazakhstan’s transport and logistics infrastructure, as well as opportunities for cooperation within the framework of the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGI) initiative.

AECOM representatives presented their approaches to implementing the Trans-Caspian Trade Route (TCTR) project, aimed at creating a sustainable and competitive transport corridor in the region. It was noted that under the PGI initiative, the company provides comprehensive support for infrastructure projects at all stages of their development and implementation.

Special attention was given to attracting international investments, developing multimodal logistics, and building efficient supply chains across Central Asia and the Caspian region.

Following the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for further cooperation and expressed their readiness to continue dialogue on joint initiatives.

A working meeting was held at the KTZ Express head office between Acting CEO (Chairman of the Management Board) of KTZ Express, Aibek Kapar, and a delegation of China Railway Container Transport (CRCT) led by Chairman of the Board Yang Bin.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the current status and future development of transportation along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), including improving logistics efficiency and addressing infrastructure bottlenecks.

Positive freight growth dynamics for Q1 2026 were noted, and plans to significantly increase transit volumes were confirmed. In particular, both sides expressed readiness to double traffic along the TITR and further develop China–Europe services.

Special attention was given to long-term tariff policy, implementation of synchronized train schedules, digitalization of transport processes, and ensuring supply chain stability.

Following the meeting, the parties outlined priority areas for further cooperation aimed at enhancing the predictability and competitiveness of the Middle Corridor.

Cooperation between KTZ and China State Railway: Talgat Aldybergenov meets with Wang Jinxi

Within the framework of the XL Meeting of the OSJD General Directors Conference, a meeting was held at KTZ headquarters between Talgat Aldybergenov, Head of KTZ, and Wang Jinxi, Deputy Secretary of the Party Leadership Group and Member of the Board of Directors of China State Railway (CSR).

The parties highlighted the high efficiency of coordinated cooperation, which enables the consistent implementation of tasks aimed at developing the transit and transport potential of the two countries.

Sustainable growth is подтвержден by statistics: in the first quarter of 2026, transportation volumes increased by 9.3%, reaching 9.1 million tons. This underscores the growing demand for transport corridors passing through Kazakhstan and China.

Special attention during the talks was given to the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR / Middle Corridor) and the digital transformation of logistics routes. In the first quarter of 2026, 125 container trains were transported via TITR, which is 34.4% higher than in the same period last year.

Significant progress has also been achieved in infrastructure expansion. The parties expressed mutual appreciation for the prompt work on agreeing the intergovernmental agreement on the construction of the Dostyk – Alashankou railway section and agreed to actively advance the approval of the project for the construction of the third border crossing Bakhty – Tacheng.

The synergy between KTZ and China State Railway serves as a key driver of economic growth for both countries, transforming geographical advantages into a powerful tool for trade integration between East and West.
